So You Want To Revive The Pk Clan World. Here's How.

First you may ask who is eval slayer and why should we listen to him? I used to be in the clan world long ago. Just before the wilderness ended in 2007 my clan, Deathrow, died. It rose to the top 15 and crashed suddenly. Infighting and outfighting. Unstable leadership changes. Alliances broken. Rebellions. One of many clans to rise and fall.

Over the years I went alone and then just went content with a skilling/PvM clan. From the sidelines, i would still see whats up in the clan world and even ask others in it about it. I saw Lordship's video and, to be honest, nothing about it surprised me. The decline is not sudden, it is predictable and I saw the roots of it on my way out. If you really want to save it, I may have some ideas. The thing is, you may have to go outside the box on everything.

First step is getting these things though:

Jagex is not all to blame. Jagex will not help you. Jagex can not save you. Jagex is about money now, not you.

Being in a number one clan should be earned, the right way. Have honor and never just wait for a clan to die so you can absorb it.

Evolution is how you survive, stagnation is how you go extinct.

Next, lets address some problems:

Long ago we had a thing called honor. It seemed silly to many. Rules in a game? That question ended honor. It first started as some bad 'no honor' clans breaking clan wide rules about crashing and such. Then this went from hated to incorporated into all clans. All clans just became no honor or blurred the lines of what is or isn't honor. I knew this would hurt clans, and it did.

Everyone wanting to join top clans. Wanting to be winners seems human. People from smaller clans and dead clans joining top clans. Top clans just accepting them. Loyalty goes out the window if this is done too much. Loyalty is the foundation of any building. Without it, the structure will fall. One day it will dawn on you that your power is hallow and not solid. Death comes from within more often then not.

Lack of unity as a whole. You are all clans, allies or rivals should never matter. If you want to enjoy the clan world, you must support it. You must show respect. You must fight to keep what you love alive. Maybe Jagex is killing this game and clans, but you don't have to help them.

Finally, some solutions. You may not like them, but you also don't seem to have much choice:

Return to the way of honor. Get the clans together and agree on rules. Stick to these rules. If anyone wants to troll by breaking them, destroy them. Destroy their clan if they keep doing it. Value and embrace honor this time. It was lost in time and needs to come back stronger then ever. Rules are sometimes meant to be broken and sometimes to be cherished. Honor will only serve to help the PK clans.

Bring back apprenticeships or apprentice clans. A very old concept from my time lost. Don't be 'too good' to recruit low level players and noobs and help them rise up. This builds growth and loyalty. Get a new generation involved. New players will gravitate to skilling, questing and PvM without intervention. The only way to have newer generations is to show them how its done. Know that when you retire or quit someone will take your place. Keep your clan alive from the ground up. Don't be a vulture, either. Getting dead clan members is a band aid on recruiting. Build on the things that founded a clan.

Reward loyalty and never take it for granted. Make sure your longest players are happy. Clans are not a democracy? Get that crap out of your head. Address concerns of your members. Let others chime in more. Leadership has to be flexible at times. Clans can be destroyed with leadership selfishness. Build a solid community. If your a leader and want to quit, pass it on to someone else. Don't be a jerk and close shop because you can't lead it. Your clan belongs to everyone in it, not just you or your council. Show some honor, respect and maturity.

Support small clans. Top 10/20/30 list? Think beyond that. The more clans the better. I saw small clans dying to mega clans in the past. Everyone needs to be happy and none excluded. The rudeness shown to small clans sometimes is unacceptable. The more clans exist, the more the clan world as a whole grows. When a clan starts, welcome them. If a beloved clan closes, its members should not try to revive that clan but build a new one on its ashes. Tight friendships are the glue for clans and will lead to growth. Keep membership spread out and not have a handful of clans to get all the numbers while others suffer. This is never a good thing.

I hope you take this to heart clan world. Yes you are dying, but it does not have to be this way. It can turn around if done right. Change your attitude and you can change your fate. Jagex is not your savoir. You don't need a savoir. You need to listen to my outside observer advice. Even if I'm not in the PK world,I do want to see it live and it would be a sad loss of RS history to see it gone.
