Cats And The Clan World

So I was just in the IRC talking about the price of bacon, when I started to wonder why the clan world is overrun with cats.
The list off the top of my head is:

- Kat (Collision)
- Krystal Kat2 (DF)
- Gkitti (Corruption)
- Kitty (BlacKnights)
- Kittie (NBK)
- Koffin Cat (WG/Gladz)
- Meow Mix88 (Poison)

Is this good or bad?
Why do we have so many of them?
And out of all possible animals, why cats?
Does this epidemic in some way affect the current state of the clan world?
