well i don't really know why ive decided to post this. came back to see how the rs community was doing and it seems pretty dead with alot of people ranting about "we need youth" etc. Don't need to go through that as im sure everyones seen it.
This is just my view of it. Agree or Disagree with it but i see it as a pathway to repairing some of the damage to the clan world. but that's just me :D or it's hopeful thinking, you decide ;)
Personally haven't played RS for quite a while. Gave up on EoC about a month after it came out. not due to boredom of the game or loss of love for it. i just couldn't get my head around it after playing for so long and didn't accept the change.
People can say what they want about the clan world dying but think about how you started out. Personally, it was Terminal FTW, Pure Hatred and Divine kings walking around mass recruiting in the popular single areas, moving up to BH everyone spamming abuse at eachother and people everyone loving it. every now and again you'd get a mass recruited team walk up to gdz's on a late night only to run into the clan world of the past. then those mass recruited people would search for the clan they saw fighting and train to join it whilst being apart of the CC when they were bored.
Now i haven't played for a while but it didn't seem like anyone was doing this recently, well not high level clans anyway. and now ive seen requirements of 25 sets double, Dung needed to get even FA. it's not simple and easy and fun. i really hate DG and i expect alot of other people do so when we see that requirement you think ill give it ago, but that drains your passion for it and i personally think why is this weapon that in my opinion does f**k all difference (personal opinion, can come at me with stats but ill gladly drop you with my rune shimmy against your wide range of graphite) - sorry, bit of a rant there :), anyway. Requirements have gone way up. looking at this "we need youth again!". well youth are just starting out. they aren't maxed out. theres nothing there to bring them into it from a lower level and of no requirement but "kill that other team we don't like and come back tomorrow and do it again."
I don't expect people to make a team of their own. But, for exampe, when i log into IRC i get around 3-5 messages asking if i would like to join somebodys team, and i expect it's the same for alot of people. this is a good thing because it shows that there are teams out there trying to recruit more people. i think to any team leader that reads this, try the old method. go to edgeville with your members and walk around to get more people to follow you, make level 3's and sit them at GE with an autotyper on. simple things that can make a big difference with effort.
Also there needs to be some more NH going on. it makes the game entertaining. When NI was at large they did what they wanted and crashed who they wanted and did extremely well with numbers because they had fun. same for my clan, DK. i'd see the top 5 need a week prep to pull what we did daily. we would go out, see a 100 v 100 fight and think, well its 200 v 60 now and jump into that fight. it never got old whereas this constant CWA is boring. thinking back not long ago, if i saw a matched cwa fight i'd think nah ill avoid that. not as a bad member but because only the maxed out players will fight in them, ones that are known for tanking and leading. And cwa is boring as f*ck. (bit of a blast from the past, but it's an example of when there were a lot of people fighting) ~ When i think of cwa i think of solace, poison and other cwa teams, not VR, DF, RSD (R.I.P) PH etc. get back into the wilderness.
Now of course this idea doesn't really work untill everyone realises that the toggle will probably be there until you get used to it and find a counter for it, like clans have always done (DDoSing for example). it needs clans to return to the wilderness and fight regardless - on a side note of the toggle, nearly all clans beleive themselves to be "honour". Toggling shouldn't be used at all. you're supposed to be clanners who love to war one another not fight solo. edge is the place for it.
personally i think the wilderness creates its own battlefeild. its a large part of RS and for F2P all i can really think is let the whole wilderness be free. this battlefeid idea will start out buggy as hell and they won't see it as a necissary update until the clan world dies. also, we need more of that fire to be #1. every time ive massed up before a big fight theres always been a massive pump up for being #1. but right now it looks like it's hard to tell who's a top clan. anyone can be in a matched cwa fight aslong as your lucky enough to hit more than the other clan.
thought i'd give another example. PH. a team that when i joined was roaming around falador with a few generals in the cc pming people to join their IRC then advancing to BH and continuing to do that, killing PR, DK (not everytime ill admit at least once though) ZH the list goes on. and i see them now and they're a top 5 clan from starting off as a team. it can happen it just takes that little bit of inspiration to do it and for people to make the teams and go out there into the wilderness.
long winded, might take a while to understand in some parts. just had a moment of be inspirational in me :) or maybe i got a little too involved and imaginative with the game and im abit mental or something :D
