Damage Inc Closes

Quoted from DI boards:

I've written thousands of topics in the past, but this one is definitely one of the hardest ones I've written.

Truth is, I could sit here 24 hours a day and not miss a beat. I could sleep 2 hours a night, 3 hours a night and it didn't even matter because life would go on and I'd still have a list of things that I looked forward to do on here. I enjoyed every second of it. There may have been unexpected challenges (unknown, unknowns) almost daily, but I always appreciated that challenge. Some day life's going to hit you like a ****ing truck and if you let your emotions cloud that judgement you're going to fall apart, at least initially. So I always tried to embrace things for what they were, knowing anything was possible, with the top priority being the members, at least within DI.

I've always said as long as I have desire for something I could do it 20 hours a day, no matter what. What's a bit ironic here is I haven't lost desire. I still enjoy the game, still enjoy the people (mostly) and still have the time. But it's not about me and never was. It's about DI and the community as a whole and that's really the only reason I continued this. As a group, the leadership team decided we can't continue. Many of our members also recognize that, with the way the clan world operates, we can't live our lives and live up to the expectations of our fellow clan members.

The reality is, the clan world will never become what we want it to be. The actors, even if they're new, have operated the same way they have for 15 years. People may have gotten older, but their attitudes are just as immature. That makes a sustainable, fun clan world for all, impossible.

It's no longer fair to ask anymore from you our members to build DI if the clan world will continue to stagnate. There's nothing left for us to accomplish - we maced 5 bill and made tonnes of views off it. We could spend every hour organizing 100 new members and Jagex could release clan support, but it would be a ton of effort just to have the same results. It's time for us to move on, and probably what remains of the "clan world" will shortly follow. The members both past and present will always be the reason why this clan was so special, and even though our challenges were much different on OSRS than pre-EOC, we were one of a kind and will always be known for the way we pioneered the clan world. And for that, I thank you all.

A special shout out to everyone who was involved the past year, especially the officials present at the time (specially Diogo). It's not easy to have faith in something when you're just left in the dark, your forums stolen, and all of your infrastructure shut down. It was an impossible task and yet we somehow made it work, easily attributed to our unique community.

Personally, I will be quitting the game and likely dropping my stuff to DI members so that it can be put to good use. I'm not disappearing, but overtime I'll probably be long gone and never look back as that's pretty much how I roll. I encourage everyone who continues to play the game in a clanning capacity to not make rash decisions. Decide as a group. Right now active DI members can have the most power to change the clan world, and that will be completely determined by the final decision of where to go as a group.

Our community will still remain intact, as it has for over a decade, as long as they are used and for the sake of all of you. We hope many who have left our community return without the stigma of "posting on a rival forum." We have no intentions of leaving you in the dark and to your own devices, so if you still want to come on IRC/Forums for the time being, you are welcome to. If there's something you need/want to talk about, my PMs will still be wide open like they've always been. I may not respond within 0.002 seconds though.

Thank you to all those who made our time in this as a clan fun. The future for each of us is unwritten, but we can no longer, as adults, run a clan.

I can happily say I was and always will be DI til I die. DI is an idea, and although institutions are finite, ideas are eternal.

Dakota was a longtime 420 pker member/official he was also well known in the clan community by others i wanted to show my appreciation for a good person who went too soon hist family/friends were here he spent most of his time gaming on the computer. its the reason i post it here im sure it will be closed but at least for the time it is up i hope this reaches someone much love to you Dakota from all of us in the 420 Family!

I was reading this topic about Dakota and i started to think, might also be due to watching 13 reasons why.

I have heard about people dying in the clanning scene and i also had a friend (itz stalker/Nick) who committed suicide last year who i know from Cd since 09. Suicide is a very serious thing, and a problem for people who suffer depression. This game has helped people , but at the same time it has put people in a worse state due to bullying, ddoxing etc. I know how toxic clanning can be, but also a fun place for other people. Some people don`t realize their actions has affect on people before its too late and i believe that some people play this game to escape from reality. We live in a world, where every choice you make has a consequence, which brought me to these questions.

1. Have you had someone in your clan die, and how did it happen and what do you think about it?

2. What do you feel about suicide? and is this clanworld a place for people who suffer from depression?

3. What can we do as a member of a clan to make clanning a safe environment for everyone?

PVP ELO System

If you were watching last week's OSRS Twitch Discussion, they mentioned they were bringing out an ELO System for PKing, however putting it into an Arena, which I am assuming is the Colosseum mentioned when Zeah was still just an idea.

If this were to pass and be put in the game, do y'all think it would convince people to try PKing and do you think it would harm or benefit the Wilderness/Clanning?

With Di closing, what will their members do? Is F2P officially dead or will we see a rejuvenated CWA? Honestly, I do not know but it was nice to see their final fight from luck. I see little benefit for them closing but can a few teams arise? What do you think?

Other Games?

How has other Games affected your clan? Throughout the years there have been many games in which people have huddled into a TS channel and eventually left RS. World of Warcraft was the first game and then league was the next great game to take over. Finally, league was dethroned and Pubg/Fortnite took over. I really shouldn't say people quit but if anything it kept communities together. What is your opinion on other Games?

Just 3 years ago, a small group of friends got together and decided to form a clan.  Our only real goal then was to fight, we enjoyed that above all else and every goal or plan we made was focused on challenging ourselves to bigger and better battles.  A lot of people have messaged me over the last 2 months, some in Cutthroat but many ranks and members of other clans asking whats next for Cutthroat?  What would we do if our rival closed?  What would we be left with?  This was always a strange question to me.  We have been climbing a big hill for the last year and yes we are close to the top of it and the view looking back down to where we came from will be amazing.  But looking ahead from the top of that hill, there is a whole mountain range of peaks for us to climb.  The possibilities for what we can achieve are endless and that desire to fight we had 3 years ago will drive us forward to so much more.

As we hit our 3 year mark we are thinking about what we want from clanning and what legacy we want to leave here.  Starting next week we will be accepting more F2P fights both wilderness and clan wars.  We're hoping in exchange some of the F2P counterparts will trade us some P2P fights as well so both sides can grow.  We're also willing to ac any P2P fights so long as you are not a clan who crashes us.  We'll also be hosting more community events and hopefully some large scale wars in P2P.  A lot of this isn't always posted on Zybez so if you want to know what we're up to join our public Discord: https://discord.gg/gWGBTjs

If you want to read our entire history leading up to today I've included it in a spoiler below and finally we are releasing our 3 Year Anniversary Video.

Lastly and most importantly I want to thank all of the members of Cutthroat, whether you have been with us for 3 days or 3 years I'm happy you're here on this journey with us.  No matter your rank in Cutthroat you guys make up this amazing community of people who are not only quality members in game but fun people to hang out with and great friends.   Thanks for making Cutthroat everything it is and everything it can grow to be.

Here's to another amazing year to come!

Curious, what are everybody's views on the current state of the clan world and how it got to its current position?
Lack of new members?
Skilling too tempting with how easy its becoming?

Duriel321?

Has the clan world gotten too aggressive in response to trying to keep their members active and engaged?

Sunday Clusters?

Do you think we will ever see Sunday Clusters return to Osrs. P2P or F2P Form?

(Not sure how many clans actually enjoy F2P fighting).

I personally would love to see a dedicated date/time where all clans go out and face their zybez enemies. Always see talk and posts about clan beef and how one clan "destroyed" the other, only for the other clan to post a win topic as well. Actions speak louder then words, Easy to call teams out on Zybez but actually being forced to show up on the day is a different thing.

Would be nice to see Rot vs Frontline/Fools, Ct vs Rev, JaJa vs Dk, etc. Just have 1 week of smack talking, go and fight - Make a win topic - and repeat for the following week. The more clans that are out the better, stops fake win topics being made.

Or is the Era of Multiple clans fighting 1v1 or 2v2 outside of Rev caves over?. Loved seeing Rot/Di vs Vr/Df, with smaller clans like Poison/Ronin beefing right next to them <3

OR better yet, Beefing clans call each other out, have a nuetral clan AC and just go at it for 3+ hours AWAY from gdz/revs.

New Revenant Cave Rewards

After some pestering via Reddit, Twitch, Discord and Twitter, Ayiza finally released the Dev blog for better rewards for the Revenant Caves. One of the main rewards that caught my eye was the Barbed Rete. This kinda reminded me of the Bolas item back in 2011.

I also liked the Ring and the Amulet which made the idea of more risk=more reward concept coming back.

Myself and ExactlyPwned from Playdead also asked Ayiza what about the Loot Keys and we got a response that they would be polled in the next BH update.

If these were to pass, do you think the Revenant Caves could be better like it was back at the beginning of the year and do y'all believe Jagex is finally trying to help out the PKing community?

So clan world. Seen as football is coming home *this topic may be deleted at 10pm tonight* it got me and my fellow Country men thinking what else this great nation needs to bring home.

The game runescape was born in Cambridge, England and so needs to return home.

Rumours of team england opening following the successful parade of England's 2018 World Cup winners are confirmed to be true.

Pm me for further information on how to join this elite team, requirements are you must be English and English only we don't want any sheep do dars or kilt wearers as you guys never qualify for World cups.

We will being the jagex Cup home from the current holders.

Looking for pre tournament friendly vs the Dutch and finish as you guys also don't qualify for the proper thing.

Mainstream media reporting on the Clan World

$

Since RoT exploded the RS clan world has gained a fair bit of traction on platforms such as twitter/twitch/reddit, but it hasn't really broken through in the mainstream media (fairly understandably). You don't open up a newspaper and hear about Damage Inc V2 closing or what the chances of VR making a comeback are. That's now changed. In the past few days The New Yorker, one of the most reputable news outlets worldwide, published an article, which was #1 on their most popular list, on the live-streamer Ice Poseidon which discussed Runescape and briefly delved into the clan world, describing "the Reign of Terror" as "the most powerful clan in the game". ( https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/07/09/ice-poseidons-lucrative-stressful-life-as-a-live-streamer ).

Whilst this is clearly great exposure for runescape clanning, it poses some immediate questions:

Is this the first of more breakthoughs into the mainstream media?

Will such exposure help to grow the clan world?

Has there ever been a clan that has brought as much exposure to clanning as RoT?
