Why Is Nobody Concerned About Eoc?

EoC is going to affect the clan world more than any update Jagex has released to date, even when they removed the wilderness. Anyone that's tried the beta know's how absolutely awful it is. I mean really... this is never what runescape was meant to be. This is going to destroy the clan world and possibly runescape altogether. Why is nobody concerned? Perhaps clans are going to try to 'adapt' to it, good luck is all I can say. The old combat system was perfect for clans, now its just going to be stupid, the only people who will enjoy this are kids that have only started playing in the last couple of years or so. For us that have played for a long time I think this change is just to much and I don't see why anyone would still play after the update.

Personally I think RSC claning is finished after this update unless the clan community moves onto a different game that is equally enjoyable for clans. No not WoW or some other dumb crap like that, this is what the EoC is turning rs into. If your in a clan right now enjoy it while it last's. For clanless people I don't really see the point joining a clan with EoC is right round the corner. May as well just close the *looking for a clan section*.

Hello, its safe to say now that many Top clans of Runescape have experienced warring on EoC Beta or atleast watched how it was and if you havent yet please do look at the following video topics:

So yeah our timezone is very dead....
Looking for any clan/team willing to war PRA at like 8.00 AM EST-9:00 AM EST on Fridays, Saturdays on Sundays. That's like mid day GMT.
We pull around 15-20 so we're just looking for like low opt matcheds but we may do CWRI's on even numbers.

How Long Have You Been In Your Current Clan?

I think my record for shortest time spent in a clan is a week.
TuneScape back in 06 - I was 13, and after missing one midnight PK trip I figured an EST clan wasn't gonna work for me.
I think in 06-07 I was averaging between 1 to 3 months per clan.
Damn I was one terrible clan hopper :-(

But then from 08-onwards, that average started increasing substantially.
And here I find myself currently serving my longest consecutive term with a clan.
It's been 16 months since I posted my app.

So, today's questions are:

When did you join your first clan?
And
How long have you been in your current clan?
If you left and rejoined, how long since your most recent app?
Plus bonus points for
If more than ~1 year, what made you choose to stay for so long?

The general consensus of the clan world is 1- we're older (~19+), and 2- there are less clans.
So, is clan hopping dying out, as we finally start to settle down?
And why - do we just find the "right" clan for us, or are we all retired and just pick the strongest warrers?
Or are there still quite a few left who continue to explore what the clan world has on offer?

Looking Back

Last night I was thinking about all the hours of my life I spent attempting to write witty comments on these forums, talking about the most random stuff with friends on TS & IRC and just the general hype whenever any of my clans or teams had a fight that was deemed important. Yeah, this topic is going to be somewhat nostalgic.

Truth is, the majority of the people that come on this section of RSC have been around for approximately 3 to 6 years, some longer, some shorter. From what I see, most of us started doing this clanning thing somewhere between the age of 12 and 16 and became adults while clanning. I personally started clanning when I was like 14 years old, I'm 22 now. You can all probably remember some random video of your clan with corny music from alt rock & metal artists like the legion of doom, breaking benjamin, three days grace and whatnot. Later on it was more hiphop (remember when everyone used pass out by tinie tempah?) & commercial dance music or a combination of those.

Though that's not the point of this thread. It's more about the first few lines of my second paragraph. Most of us grew up while clanning, and I'm pretty sure we've all experienced countless things which you all take with you in real life and perhaps even use to your advantage. Arguments between people, being a part of something, or trying to change annoying habits within an existing system. We've all seen it. Even basic things such as socializing is a thing that can be experienced within a clan seeing it's laid back environment. Whereas family or friends might say you missed out on basic social skills because you "spent so much time behind your computer" when you were younger, you obviously don't think the same. You didn't spend time behind the computer brainlessly grinding like most other gamers do - you spent most time with your clan!

Obviously everyone has their own associations when they look back at their years of clanning, but my question to you is: what have you learnt and experienced when you look back? I'm curious to see if other people feel the same like me, as I feel all the random banter just adds another dimension to my social life. A random example of that being all the random foreign words I learnt in Lithuanian, Polish, Hungarian and other languages, it's quite fun to know that when you meet people from these countries or are in their countries. :-P

Might be a bit of an odd topic but I hope I hit the right note somewhere, to sum it up: What have you learnt and what did you take from this experience?

It's not so much the question that matters, it's the thoughts and memories that pop up when reading this, so feel free to describe those if you're not sure about the question. :-)

The Last 4 Years



4 years ago, on this day, a clan named Downfall was born; and today we proudly celebrate the fourth birthday of our magnificent clan! For those of you who don't know us, Downfall was formed August 29th of 2008, and began as a 75+ CWA warring clan born out of W141. While a lot of people laugh at such a thing, we know where we came from and we aren't ashamed of it. Over the past 4 years, Downfall has grown from that simple 75+ warring clan to the clan we are today, an active competitor in the top 10, and one of the best communities in the clan world.

In 4 short years, Downfall has evolved from that 75+ warring clan slowly and gradually, at first by simply raising our combat requirements, and later by taking larger steps into emerging as a top 10 clan. About two years ago, Downfall began warring in the wilderness and extending it's warring horizons to include PKRI's. In this last short year Downfall has become not only a formidable force in the wilderness, but has climbed ranks to become one of the strongest mid-sized clans in the clan world today. This year Downfall has grown to a new level never seen in this clan. Downfall was able to challenge the top clans such as Runescape Dinasty, The Titans, and Violent Resolution not only to cwa fights but pvp fights in some instances. Downfall has grown to be one of the most active clans in the wilderness today.




The Present



Back to the present, today Downfall celebrates it's fourth year of active warring, living, and community. The past year has probably been Downfall's finest in terms of improvement in warring capabilities and community as well. Downfall began with a core of maybe 10-15 members, our core member base now consists of over 45 members, including dozens of members who have never quit our clan. That speaks for our community in itself, and our community is something that Downfall has prided itself on since the first day it we were founded.

Most of this text is probably boring if you aren't in Downfall, and won't be read, so here are some screenshots of Downfall's past 4 years, in a nutshell, for you to enjoy. Some shout-outs will be at the bottom to thank all of our friends, and the clans who helped us get to where we are today.

A Brief History of Downfall

It's been mentioned, it's been asked, but exactly how Downfall was formed is still a fairly mysterious subject to many people to say the least. Please be fore warned, the history of Downfall's formation is quite a bit more exciting than your average history class.

OK seriously now, 4 years ago there was a clan called Knock-Out Unit; KO-Unit for short. As you can probably imagine, KO Unit was a clan born straight out of 141, with a staggering 70+ combat admission requirement. In this clan, the original founders of Downfall came together. One fateful day, a member was elected to become a warlord of KO, without the admission of the majority of officials. Fearing that the leader of KO Unit was just doing what he himself wanted instead of what was best for the clan, three members of KO Unit decided to form a new clan- Downfall. Downfall was originally named to be spiteful to KO Unit, implying that we had become their Downfall, and that they were on the Downfall because of us. Those 3 members, along with 10 or 15 more who decided to quit KO Unit for Downfall, were the original clan. A 75+ combat requirement, a free-web forum (that sadly isn't hosted any longer,) and a clan chat, and we were already thriving.

Downfall spent it's first year training, raising it's standards, and learning to truly maneuver and fight other clans. Our first year led us to 100+ combat requirements (we trained at a very rapid pace,) along with some other requirements that the officials felt necessary. After perfecting it's warring techniques, Downfall began to recruit, grow, and rise.

Downfall's second year, and the year the wilderness was re-introduced (those PvP worlds,) was much more exciting. After joining TWR, (the Tip.It war list,) Downfall found many new challenging opponents. 5-6 months later, Downfall was at the top of the war list, and had outclassed and outlived clans that we had huge rivalries with, such as Tempted Killers and Divine Vindicators. Some we beat so hard that to this day, many people hold grudges against Downfall (Mago_Nero8 lol.) Downfall eventually decided that warring on Tip.It was becoming too easy, so we moved on to Runescape Community.

Downfall's third year, from June 2010 until now, was spent fighting in the wilderness and improving drastically as a clan. Downfall went from fighting clans like Poison (our first PKRI, which we lost,) to fighting clans like Corruption. Never once has Downfall stopped moving forwards, or stopped trying our best to further ourselves and better ourselves in terms of warring, and improving our community bonds. In one short year, Downfall had made massive progress.

Downfall's fourth year could be called a very interesting one. By this time Runescape Clanning was already on a downward slope and warring got on to another level. This ERA in Downfall history was filled with what are known as crash wars. Throughout this year Downfall fought Solace and Violent Resolution in separate crash wars and further evolved downfall as a clan.

So that's the brief history, from August 29th, 2008, to today, August 29th, 2012. 4 years that have been one hell of a ride.

Silent Ember Closes

Silent Ember was opened October 2009 by superkev360 and jst_unit01. It started off as just a fun cwa team with not much ambition. Alot of people joined due to good word of mouth that it was a fun team, friends told friends etc till we had a solid memberlist. The main aim was to have fun, we never use to be really strict on quality. Our community was always what made us, members came and went but the community remained strong.

During most of 2011 and 2012 we were the most active team, we had many members from several clans so clans fighting never use to affect pulls and we could give any clan a good fight. We pulled 70+ twice and pretty much 40/50 + to every war at our peak. We would always be able to pull high 24/7, whether it was early GMT or Late EST. We carried on having fun, we had to tighten up on organisation in order to compete with the best. On our day we could beat anyone. Sadly all the fun has to come to an end one day.

Lately officials have been busy and there isn't much motivation to run SE anymore. Leadership is just bored of this game and so we've decided to close.

Pretty gutted to say the least but the timing is probably right. We achieved everything there is to achieve for a F2P team and I'm proud of it. We beat everyone there is to beat and honestly fighting the same clans & teams isn't as much fun as it used to be. No other F2P team can say they had a community as good as ours and no other team can say they were able to pull 55 people to a fight. Over the last year we've actually had more than one event per day; #mostactiveteam. We were one of very few teams who actually included PVP events with the usual CWA, however not so much as of late for obvious reasons. The best thing about T1P was we had the ability to match our community, as shown by our numerous wins over elite CWA teams.

T1P is probably the best clanning experience I'll take from the game. It's been an amazing ride from being kicked by BoggedinMeheye ti coming back and leading us to victory multiple times. Rest in Peace.

Latin Unit Closes

So yeah, I am not going to make an essay about it. Runescape is dead and it was time for us to go. We accomplished many things in just a short period of time. Managed to beat every top class clan in CWA after just months of opening with only latinos (and Too)

It was a lot of fun really and I really enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone who fought us and gave us good fights.

On this day it marks the Eleventh birthday of RuneScape Dinasty. A history that is not shared by many and one that some can only dream of being able to experience. This is an accomplishment that represented as another mile marker in the clan's vast history over the years and something that is to be looked at with pride. One that is a sound representation of the amount of love, devotion, and passion that the members of this clan have. Over the years we've been through just about anything that a person could throw at a clan, or dream up. Whether it was the game itself changing, clan world changing, or RSD's changes themselves, the clan has continued to maintain itself as a staple in the clan world. Eleven years of it and there is still so many things to come for us all.

The clan continues to maintain a strong community, continues to carry its high standards, and continues to strive to succeed in all areas of the game. Most importantly by having fun in doing so. Everything that has and will be accomplished is only made possible by each and every member that donates and contributes their time and resources to the clan selflessly in the past or present. What the future beholds is anyone's guess, which is what makes things so interesting in being a part of the clan world. I do know one thing, I wouldn't want to go through it with any other group of individuals. I am truly grateful for having the opportunity to experience this with so many people with all sorts of histories.

Thank you to everyone who has had the honor of contributing a part of this clan, it has truly become a wonderful place in return.

Poison's 3Rd Year

From a ton of effort, Poison has now reached 3 years as a warring clan. We have evolved into one of the most smaller active clans around. We war 6 days a week every week. That is more than most bigger clans in terms of activity. Along with that we have had community events before and after wars. We have dominated almost every clan around our size and have been pushing to go higher. With that, comes our dedication and effort put from 'the core'. To us, the core spams are dedicated towards our loyal members that have been with us for a long time. As much as people say we are a crashing clan, we haven't been for a straight year compared to the crash wars we've had 1-2 years ago. We have been quoted for one of the few clans that still offer the most respectable fights for our size.

This year it started with 'cyan:shake:..:: Never Give Up ::..'. We have told each other that even though the clan world is not at it's best - we would still pull through and stay active as possible until Runescape is completely dead. Regardless of a lot of clans closing, we still manage to find fights each and every week considering our size. I'd like to thank everyone that has showed my members why we are so resilient when you bring the drama/beef to us. No matter how big or tough they came, Poison would have the balls to do anything. Even with crashers at every fight, fighting outnumbered, being forumless/ddos'd, etc. Thank you for all the motivation that has kept us going, it's been really fun and hope that no other clans close as much as there has been this year!

We are a small group of packed personalities, We strive through having fun in the game of runescape.com, We ussualy Ac/mini wars. We strive to clean up the clan world as well. Its been fun but we are still moving on through our years. Thanks for the fun times and us gaining banks as always. pm shiloh in irc for a mini/war or a 5-10 man ac trip if were not busy.
