So I was wondering if the Crash wars are an excuse for the Clan World been a bit inactive.
So I think that Crash wars are only to keep the Clan World active, the choise between Clans to have a fight in these days are short, and I think they want to transmite that its still going action on the Wild, but It dont.
So the basic question is :
Do you think that the Crash Wars are excuses of the short numbers of clans and players, so they can keep the active and action ?
People like to joke about the maturity, (or lack thereof), of clanners. In my opinion, people play RS and hang around the clan communities to get a temporary escape from the responsibility and seriousness of school, jobs, family etc..
Now I am not implying that it is ok to be douchbags to each other just because you are behind a computer screen. But I for one can admit that for the most part, even though I try to be respectful to everyone here, I am pretty immature when I am on irc and hanging around certain clans and channels.
It is a way for me to unwind with like minded individuals that wouldn't be appropriate with people I know irl.
So for statistics;
1. What is your rl age;
2. What age do you think you act in your clan and in Clan discussion;
3. Do you think your clan personality matches your RL personality;
So the standard excuses for doing CWA are:
- Clean fights with no crashers/randoms
- Members can practice without losing rune sets/hard to get equipment
Well, that's what our PK leader told me 3 years ago anyway.
Basically the assumption was that if we "practiced" in CWA, we'd get better in the wilderness.
After 3 years of "practice", I personally don't think it's working very well.
This might be because CWA doesn't work, or other reasons, or a combination of both.
For example, returning slacks a bit, something CWA can't help.
Eight years ago there was no CWA to practice in.
If you wanted to become a top clan, you did everything through the Wild.
The top clans of the day - DF, VR, RSD... they all were established in the old Wild era.
Have we ever seen a top 10 contender that came from CWA?
Is secluding to CWA when you can't compete in the wild the right way to go?
Is it possible to use it to one's advantage, and actually benefit in some way from it?
Or is CWA nothing but a hindrance to a clan's growth and progress?
Question: How does fighting in CWA affect a clan's performance in the Wild?
I want your thoughts - how should clans consider and use the arena?
First off, let me say I don't know how to make closing topics, but I was given the task cause ..... well ... everyone else is too lazy to write more than 2 sentences :P. The below is going to be moreso about my personal experience with DX as oppose to the clan's history.
I didn't want to make this post because I am not the most knowledgeable about DX's future, but seeing how k_4eva has made his posts in the past (like 2 sentences max) I decided to make it. I don't know all the history of DX, who created the team, how long it was open, who the original core members were, all I know is that I joined this team almost a year ago originally because Genocide allowed me to PK with them but I didn't want planned wars. If anyone wants to add on to this post, feel free to in your own post.
When I first joined DX, I forgot I had Genocide added and a lot of times because I was in Exodus clan chat and the leader of Genocide was warlord in Exodus, they tracked me from time to time. Most times we totally destroyed them, but some times they got the better of us. After a while, Genocide closed and one less clan in revs was there for us to face. Throughout my time in DX, people have come and gone, but there are always a few that have made my experience in DX much more enjoyable. These people being sparky, wolf, gama, k4, casey, zafiros, amongst other people. If I didn't say your name, it was because I didn't think of you within 10 seconds, so sorry :P.
Demolition X was for the longest time king of rev caves. We beat almost any team we ran into with the exception of frozen fury / RSD. Without competition in rev caves, it eventually got boring beating the same people over and over and I guess people lost interest in it. Either way, due to lack of leadership and lack of drive to continue pk'ing, combined with having a total of 5-7 people on TS (with one being me and other being Kom) as well as the Evolution of Combat coming DX is closing.
To those who decide to quit the game, I will miss you and thank you for making the last year of my Runescape career worthwhile and memorable. To those who decide to join another team/clan, I wish you all the best. If any ex-Demolition X members wish to join teamspeak just pm me (Wafflemonger) on IRC for the info. There is no server password and the server will remain up for 27 days. If you cause trouble you'll be immediately banned :).
Many of us have been in clans that were alive for several years and closed. If you were a part of a clan for many years, and then it closed, what was it like for you?
Did you join another clan and get bored and quit/get kicked? Did you just quit RS and you sometimes check RSC (outside looking in)? Or did nothing change for you and you just kept playing RS (and still do) and joined a new clan?
If you did quit, what did you fill your new free time with? And is looking back on RS times weird now?
Sometimes a clan leadership has to swallow it's own pride in order to do good for their members.
Therefore I would like to apologize to Pure Hatred & Downfall for our actions throughout the last 3 months; primarily for crashing them but also for the out of game IRL leaking that was participated by some of our members, and myself. Despite the crashing aspect only starting with Pure Hatred & Downfall it however escallated with several other clans becoming involved. We offer our sincerest apologies to any other clan, team or country clan who became involved in this. Also personal apology to Sal and the two ex-PH members who's real life pictures got leaked during this, it was brung to the next level and was uncalled for to go to that extent from a crash war based on the game and also to Krunal for the loss of his G2H (if you didn't know this is the primary reason for the crash war beginning).
I'm looking for fights, and since most of the clan world is late EST based/dead/on their away nicks in irc, I decided to post on RSC.
So I need....

Parties involved - Paul M: MC, Community Management Mod Mark: Head of Runescape Content Mod MMG: CEO of Jagex
Paul M: One now from the Wilderness Guardians - hello Wilderness Guardians, how you doing? "Any updates for the wilderness to revitalise the art of PKing?"
Mod Mark: Yes!
Paul M - Good! (laughs) Next question!
Mod Mark - So we've got, um, a big project planned for early next year specifically involving the wilderness, and it will be some of the activities that really start this whole thing rolling for next year. So what some of the cool ideas we've had are kind of like war bands walking across the wilderness where you've got like "generals" and, you know, their rank in file... and they're sort of going to be fighting each other and you can sort of choose how you get involved. We're also looking at putting more unique resources in the wilderness, just to encourage non-PKers to go in there. We've been looking at all sorts of really really cool ideas to do with the way that we can encourage more types of people in the wilderness... and actually a lot of the Evolution of Combat was planned around making PVP combat more interesting and therefore more engaging for more players.
So, big update planned for the early parts of the year specifically for the wilderness, then towards the end of the year we've got some other ideas - crazy ideas - of things that we could do to encourage more people to be there. All sorts of things to do with- almost like... swapping XP around and...
Paul M - Ey, What? Ey?
Mod Mark - Oh just- I don't know... Again these are really really early ideas. It's one of Chris Long's ideas actually, and he just sat here with me last week... um to just do with the way that you could sort of go in the wilderness and build up like XP, resources... and when you leave you can cash them all in and if you die you can steal not only those resources but the potential earned XP off people at the same time.
Paul M: Okay...
Mod Mark: Again it's a really cool idea, it's exciting... whether or not we choose to do it next year I don't really know, but it's some of the ideas we've got on the table right now. Um... yeah. I'd like to do things like improve the agility return from the agility course that's there... make it more viable for players to train their agility, but then you're obiouvly encouraging more people to come in and risk their loot. We're also looking at things like player jacking, specifically. Evolution of Combat, for example, will fix the issue where when you eat food, you can suddenly drop out of combat with your opponent and someone else can come in and get involved. That's gonna get fixed. We've also had lots more interesting conversations about, um, pile jumping/player jumping... so there's lots of small things we're planning to do and a big old update at the beginning of the year.
Paul M: K cool, and how much are we sort of, like, checking out the forums for PKers and-
Mod Mark: Every day!
Paul M: Yeah? Cool
Mod Mark: Yup
Paul M: OK. So next question...
Obviously, there is much to discuss.
I'm hoping this can be kept a flame-free topic because this transcends personal politics between clans and individuals.
Firstly, exciting confirmation that Jagex have guaranteed us a big wilderness update at the start of next year. A little bird tells me that this was due in part to the strong upcry from everyone here and those retired in response to our dire situation. Also, Jagex has read the appendix we compiled, and not only read it but circulated it around the entire office. All the people at the top, including the entire content team, have read it, so my thanks to the community who contributed all your incredible ideas to the appendix.
Secondly, how much is this update going to change things? I get the feeling a lot of naysayers will go "too little, too late" or "Jagex will screw it up as they always do". Let me rush to their defense. They specifically planned what we asked of them - resources and new wilderness content. This will only do great things for us. There will be others who say "EoC will kill RS anyway, so who cares?" I believe the opposite. Yes, we'll lose some players who are dear to us because they love their old game, but this is time to embrace a new player base. Fresh blood in old establishments. We can't stop change. EoC will not be loved by us all, but so many players, thanks to the wilderness updates and the EoC, will start exploring PVP again. I'm so very excited to make new friends and try out a virtually new game and relearn everything. We were DYING - we had so little to lose. The EoC could only have improved things. If we were to remain as we were, we would have SURELY died. Who knows, with a new PVP clan world, we may go back to the ways of honour if we aren't so worried about our survival, and winning the fight around the corner.
Thirdly, you heard they said the later wilderness updates in 2013 are NOT confirmed, but they are toying with the idea. You also heard they are reading feedback from PKers on the forums every day. I beg of all of you, not perceiving myself as a movement leader but merely a fellow player, to get on the forums and ask for such updates to happen. A crapload of skillers are going to whine about losing their pickackes and dragonhides. We need to show Jagex how much support they truly have. We've won the major battle, now it's time to push for the largest border.
Finally, they made specific indications as to what they were going to do. What do you think of the bits they revealed? War bands with generals, resources such as updating the agility arena, stealing XP (sort of like EP)? This is aside from the EoC updates that were mentioned of course.
So yes, please post. So much is going to change for us, for the better I hope.
TL;DR
Spoiler
Jagex have promised us a massive wilderness update at the start of 2013, and have SPECIFICALLY named a few changes including adding resources to the wilderness to attract non-PKers. This topic is about discussing the effects. Does it mean hope, or is it too late? Will it be effective if it is brought out in F2P (which it probably will be)? My thanks to those who contributed to the campaign.
EDIT: Additionally, I'd like to reinforce my hunch that these changes will be rolled out in F2P at least in part. Jagex took more than a decent look at our appendix and those of you who have read it will know how much I pushed for F2P updates. More info on page 4 regarding f2p.
Jaja has accomplished too much in a short period of time. We went through it all, one of these accomplishments is having the most kills since clan chat was created. Since then we have pked an enormous amounts of loot, dominating the wilderness in every era. And still living strong today!
Rumor is going around it will be F2p, is this true? Is there any conformation on this? Because that would effect the clan world crazy! Higher hits. #Beta, How will this effect the clan world if Rangers get blue d-hide + Crossbows, will tanking be easier?
P.s Neg me all you want kiddos i want -1000 LOL
Now in my opinion I think it would be good for rangers, Different but good, due to the fact that rangers are only powerful if you have a lot and that sighted bow, and you know how my clan is with rangers haha, Anyways Crossbows and shields would make it more interesting.
Tell me what you think about crossbows and blue d-hide in Beta f2p.
I mean, Jagex brought out this all new toy to play with, but as of quite some time now, a lot clans have started to use them, example:
Get on your Orange TITLE!!!
???
I mean, it's not even funny anymore, because it's only killing the speciality of the people, when all wear same or similar titles in front of their names. It's not even successful in the warring ground, because callers just ignore the title & call the name and yes.. The title's aren't having any effect at all in that case.
Titles are long & make the lenght of the names ridiculously over the screen, so I am asking you guys now, why?
Why so many teams/clans have decided to go the way of taking all the titles in use?
7Sem10 came along from DG and called for NBK against Team Morphic.
Usually we lose against...everyone, so it was a welcome surprise that he actually managed to call some coherent piles, and even more surprising that NBK members managed to hit them! We won 14-0...
I was thinking earlier that if you put Lionel Messi in any football team, he's likely to win games for them....
So now, we wish to offer some of the clan worlds best callers the chance to call for NBK. You can come in and wave your wand over us, and maybe we can win more often :o
In the second round I decided to let our actual leader Bigroror call, for science. He got one banged, and we lost, 6-0.
So if you're interested, please come to #nbk and PM an @op
Spoiler
We actually want guest callers Aragon, so please don't close this :(
Pretty much, the whole of the wilderness is single way combat unless you toggle an ability which allows you to attack others and allows others to attack you. Nice one Jagex lol..
