Aussies/CL/Exo

Well, I heard a few clans were coming back and I am pretty excited. Some of my favorite people with La Hire are coming back in full force. Ill probably do a video feature for each once they are fully back along with another rainbow clan once I see them in action. At this time however with Chivalry Legions the Aussie Timezone has been quite peculiar in terms of finding constant activity. I hope down the road CL can work on their community to build a strong core because the F2P may be a bit weak at the moment and it can take some work to find some fights to schedule. As for PvM I heard the scene is not too bad so if they actually play the game the future can be a bit brighter than expected.

Aussies have always been some of the most dedicated members in my eyes. Some have to wake up really early, and we often used to look for them to bail us out back when Run Ins took hours on end. Now that capped fights seem to be the norm, this will be very interesting. So for discussion:

What do you think of the Australian Time-Zone. You guys have any comments in regards to any of your aussie clan mates? What tips can you give them to keep active for CL to succeed.

Why are these idiots having an 8v8 rag fight in gdz that's been going on for like 40 hours?
Are they trying to prove something, other than that they are stupid?

Its already the longest "fight" of the RuneScape history, SV and AF been ragging each other for like 70 hours now, they even spent the New Year eve celebrations together, (if anyone wants to witness it its at w60 GDZ house), whats your predictions? Who will secure the victory of the longest rag fight in the history of Runescape, SV or AF (or daddy ROT)? Do you think SV dropped for good the "we don't rag anymore"? What do you think about such hatred towards each other when you're supposed to get fun from the game?

Top Clans Lists 2017

$

New year, new topic for top rated clan lists.
Feel free to post your opinion of the Top 10/20/30 clans in RuneScape - please carefully observer the following rules.

Rules:

1. DO NOT SPAM.
  • This includes excessive posting, you shouldn't need to post a list every day or two times a day. If you want to post two lists in such a short time period (for example less than a day) you can simply re-make your list by editing your last post made on the topic.
2. No commenting on others lists.
  • This basically falls under rule number one, but to explain further: do not in any way refer to another persons list. This includes quoting and comments about there list as well as "retaliations" because someone posted an unfavorable comment about a clan you're in / like. Breaking this rule will likely result in an suspension, regardless of whether it's your first offence or not.
3. No "mentions", "notes" or other comments.
  • Basically only make your top list, there is no need to put in an extra section for clans that didn't make your list. The reasoning for this is that many people abuse "mentioning" as a way to either advertise their own clan or talk down and insult another clan.
4. Report rather then retaliate.
  • Find a post offensive? Then use the [Report] button at the bottom of that person post, the report WILL be reviewed within a short time and if the person is in the wrong then they will be punished. Rather than causing spam, flames, and trouble for yourself, simply report the post.
5. Be sensible.
  • This topic is for top lists, not to flame or flame bait another clan. If you do ANYTHING that we feel is an attempt to put down or target another clan then you WILL face punishments (e.g. suspension).
6. Do not change clan initials
  • The changing of clan initials (e.g. DS = BS) is prohibited. Under no circumstances, joking or not, are you to change the given initials of a clan. You are to use their full, appropriate initials to avoid your post being perceived as a flame/flame-bait.
What IS allowed:

1. Different types of lists -
  • We welcome different types of lists as long as they are SENSIBLE and thought out, things like "Top 10 war list", "Top 10 pk list", "Top 10 on paper", etc. lists are fine as long as they follow all other rules. If these are clearly made to negatively isolate another clan, they will be removed.
2. Comments that relate to your rankings -
  • We're fine with comments that are simply there to describe a clan or things that contributed to you ranking the clan. Things like "Active", "Been unstoppable lately", "Seem to be in a slump", etc. are fine however EXCESSIVE comments that rant on and on about a clan will simply get your post removed, we do not need a 3 paragraph lecture on every clan. Also comments that are overly negative or solely there to put down a clan are not allowed. Taunts (and all comments that are made TO a clan instead of ABOUT the clan) are not allowed. Any derogatory remark or cheap shot will be removed.
Please keep in mind that just because someone puts another clan higher than where you think it should be, it doesn't mean you have to flame them and/or question their judgement. It's their own opinion and you should respect it. These are NOT official lists, these are opinions.

---------------------------

Recently we've noticed a lot clans using the top-10/20/30 sticky as a way to flame or flamebait other clans, no clans nor names are mentioned but we have decided to be more strict and enforce our current rules when it comes to explaining why you rank a certain clan in that position.

Example:
Good post: #13 - [Clan]: Haven't been accepting many wars lately.
Bad post: #13 - [Clan]: They never war because they are scared and they keep making bs excuses.

We will still allow everyone to explain why they decide to rank a certain clan on that position. Keep comments to justification of your ranking, however, and not for the purpose of discussing a fight, directly addressing a clan, or 'making a point' through your list explanation. We will become a lot more strict when it comes to flaming and flamebaiting in the top 10/20/30 topic. If you push the envelope, we will push back.

We kindly ask everyone who posts in the top-10/20/30 topic to prevent from flaming or flamebaiting, I'm sure most of you are mature enough to follow this very simple rule. The topic is active and will most likely stay that way, we don't want it removed but we have to be more strict and enforce our rules in order to not get any flame wars there. Cause lately it was starting to get close to it.

In short: Do not flame or flamebait in the top-10/20/30 sticky. If you are caught flaming, moderators WILL take further action and there's a chance of you facing a suspension. Also, remember, punishments are at the individual moderator's discretion.

Thanks for your cooperation!

Why do people criticize clans such as EoS or Infliction for re-opening?

I never understood this mentality despite closing and re-opening when these clans do open there is always a massive pump in activity which is good for everybody! Even if it is short lived over a few months I think its impressive that these communities stay together and can always come back to Runescape when they want to even after not playing for months.

Im hoping with these clans re-opening EoS, Exodus and CL we can see a boost to activity and hopefully we can move away from some of the things that have started to creep into the game again such as Doxing and DDossing.

Also hopefully in 2017 we can see a truce between the big top clans I think its clear to all that Rot has won this crash war and it is just dragging on now and seems pointless.

I think Reddit is a great outlet for anything and why not for Runescape. However, it appears Reddit is taking over and we may need to do something about it. Personally, I can see two options. We can all migrate over and flood em with our silly propaganda, or we can try to make an impact and bring them here. Why not use it as a device to make people who did not know about the clan world get involved with us. Rot/SFA are the ones involved with Reddit from what I've been told and I think we can give them some help. Lets show the community what we are. A passionate group of people who enjoy competing with fellow pvpers.

What is your opinion of Reddit? and is there anything we can do to bring our communities together?

EOS - good luck guys, do not let the community bring you down

I joined Synergy! I never thought I would ever join a CWA Team, however at this moment CWA Teams could the F2P scene alive. I think if anyone who is interested in the CWA scene should join a team to hone their skills for the sake of improving their own clan. Other than that do you think CWA Teams can do a bit more in getting the P2P scene involved?

When it comes to P2P it is like they are stuck in their world or am I the one who is stuck? When I see P2P Clans I see a waste of potential for our F2P scenes. They are a step above pures in my book! Jokes aside, I think if P2P Clans attempted the F2P scene a bit more, we should gladly reciprocate to work together for the clan world. Why not change the rules a bit to cater to each, losses may occur, but I think the more practice from both sides, the flexibility of pvp will increase as well. Vanguard were like this. They liked having a P2P fights and eventually dipped into our F2P scene. Now they have not looked back and are the future of our clan world. Cut-Throat, Zero Tolerence, Red Army, Sovereign I beg you guys. Even though some of you think F2P is boring, if both sides catered to each other you may enjoy yourselves eventually, especially if fights became competitive.

Different clans have different reqs clans like DF, VR, EOS and Forsaken have fair requirements that seem to understand that most of us have jobs, girlfriends and families..

After reading Rot's forums before posting an intro I came across this post by Mattbrazil.

"Make sure you know what you're getting yourself into. This is not like any other clan you have ever applied to. We compete on all stages. F2P, P2P, DMM, CWA, and the Jagex Cup. We expect 100% from everyone, at pretty much all times. That requires a lot of work and a lot of time. If you don't have the time or desire to be pushed that hard, don't bother posting an Intro. We aren't looking for short term members. We aren't looking for members who don't share the same mentality as we do.

Don't post an Intro unless you're ready to give it 110%. That's what it's going to take, nothing less. If you give us that, we'll give you much more in return."

Im a 25 year old man I don't have the time to be on all night and day. We didn't even see anything like this in 2010 what are your thoughts on the two different kinds of clan requirements out there today? DO you think you would have the free time to compete within ROT and if yes what is your schedule like how would you fit in a job and a healthy social life etc.

There seems to be a lot of people on the forums that are retired / aren't involved in the Clan World yet continue to post, this even seems to be the case with the Moderators. Not that I blame you, the Clan World is stagnant as **** with 1 dominant clan & no challengers.

Which leads me to my question: If your old clan came back, with its old leadership and member base, would you start clanning again? If so, why? (State your old clan, if you were an official, which officials would influence you to return).

are rag bots a new low?

I'm just curious what your thoughts are on "Rag Bots" ragging itself isn't really a achievement, in the end its nothing more but showing which clan has the most dedicated members but what if you "cheat" the only purpose of ragging...You're basically forfeiting a rag fight/war by doing that?

Raids and Clans

How do you think Raids will impact Clans or Clan PVP?

Personally with Raids I believe a lot of clans could grow from grabbing people looking for a party wanting to do Raids, and I believe in PVP the new weapons and armour could help a lot when it comes to multi PKing.

What is everyone else's opinion on this?

Why don't you push to revive clanning?

I've been gone from Zybez for a couple years and decided to lurk these forums. Clan Discussion was the highlight of my 2008-2011 years. It's depressing to look at now, especially as I read these threads and the responses within them. If this suggestion falls on deaf ears, then consider this my final ****-you to the clan world for destroying itself.

Thoughts to fix clanning

1. Push for another Clan Cup

2. Recruit outside of the existing bubble and get off of your high horses

3. Realize you're ****ing up your own world

Rationale

1) Reddit is now the best means of communication towards Jagex. It is also the best platform to gain support. ****, my first ever /r/2007scape post was a thread suggesting for Castle Wars to provide a ticket to the loser. A J-Mod replied and it was changed two months later.

If Jagex have their ***** so hard for an E-Sport market and ROT has been wiping the floor in DMM, why don't we push for another Clan Cup? Spam the /r/2007scape subreddit and garner support. It's easy and it'll bring attention to the clan world. The clan world gets more exposure, while Jagex gets to get their E-Sport ***** wet with a real competition (that they can't botch with nuclear gas a-la DMM). This would encourage creation of more clans and put attention to the quality of Zybez based clans. The first Clan Cup in 2009 ended up ushering the golden era of the 2010-2012 days, where the clan world was bigger than ever. Why not try to do it again?

2) When I lurked and saw someone asked about pushing and bridging towards Reddit, it was met with these replies:

  • after some of the stuff ive seen skillers post on there, no thanks.
  • Never liked Reddit. Also I think Jagex gives them lots of attention and forgets everything else.
  • Reddit is full of people who have an opinion but literally zero foresight considering gameplay changes and their potential impact. They're only interested in making virtual money (suggesting changes to affect merching), skilling, spreading cancerous memes, and PVM.
  • If you try to bring Reddit here, they'll infect this site with their cancer, and if you go there, they will drown out your "PK community" voices.
  • I'm happy for all those **** reddit memes to stay there, ty
  • The average person on Reddit is really, really bad at anything they are interested in so they won't really bring in real quality. Plus the community is very bad from what I've seen, and I am not even mentioning the horrible layout now.

Get off of your high horses. No matter how bad Reddit is - they are the better representation of the current player-base. They are also one of the better, if not the best platforms to recruit. There should be recruiting from the player-base outside of the dwindling pool of clanners we already have (an old, cynical, and dying breed). You forget that 2010 was rampant with hormonally charged 13-16 year olds. Reddit users and regular players outside of Zybez only seem bad because this community is looking back with rose-tinted glasses. The community wasn't any better then. Quality isn't suddenly created. It takes time for players to acclimate and develop into figures like MattyB, Bishinmo, Ghjjf, and etc. The peak of the clan world wasn't fun because of the lack of memes, ****-posting, or skillers, but rather because it had more people in general which more discourse and entertainment. You can't have both quality and quantity without working for it.

The current recruitment system likely consists of existing clanners switching clans and the odd friend that is persuaded to join. Correct me if I'm wrong. Why not recruit from the casual population, for ****s sake? In casual conversation in-game, most players don't even realize that clans outside of ROT even exist. Taking in more members, even with any odd personalities or inexperience, is worthwhile to combat the deteriorating clan world population. There needs to be a shift away from this elitism. At this rate, you folks can have fun bickering with the same people that have been bickering for the last 7 years. It's the same faces, because the clan world isn't open to recruiting to a new crowd. Eventually, enough people are going to realize (if they haven't already) that it's not fun arguing/fighting/crashing/**** waving with the same 200 people and 3 clans again and again.

3) Get. The. ****. Out. Of. Your. Own. Way.

The clan world killed/continues to kill itself. That's why it's ****.

Clans are ruining the average clanner's experience. No wonder people are leaving and nobody wants to join. Clans DDOS one another, crash one another, and send spies into one another. The goal seems to be preventing other clans from growing. As individuals take down rivals, they take down the community as a whole. This game is coming closer to two decades old. People are too old for this ****. Who the **** wants to join a clan world that essentially is killing itself? No wonder the wilderness is dead. Who wants to gear up and fight in F2P wildy, just to get crashed? What casual player is willing to join that ****? Nobody. It's filled with pointless drama and sabotage.

Clans such as The Death Monkeighs (do they still exist? I don't know) in 2007-2009 provided excellent bridges to the clanning community. It was a simple step up. Most of them don't exist anymore, and the jump towards high-end clanning is drastic. Clans are hardly being promoted, while junior clans seem to have even less exposure. I can tell you that it looks like a sink or swim scenario from the outside, which ends up scaring away casual players. The clan world needs these casual players to continue going on. Runescape is filled with players who want these experiences, but don't know it exists. Be willing to deal with players who primarily enjoy skilling or PvM. There are players who want to part-time pvp in an organized setting. Part-time members is still better than none at all. Otherwise, have fun circle-jerking with the same experience people as it becomes harder and harder to find fights.

The clan world has notoriously been on its high horse and looks down on recruiting from any other means than the traditional ones. It's time to get with the times.

TL;DR: Get exposure, recruit from everywhere, and stop ruining your own fun by sucking the fun out of your community.

Final thoughts and my last '**** you'
Stop clinging to the past and start adapting to change. The Clan World looks sad and depressing as it is. 10 minutes of lurking on this forum shows a consensus that it's stagnant and deteriorating. For this, clans have nothing to blame but themselves. It's tragic and infuriating that this was once the place of some of my best gaming experiences. Frankly, while I personally think these steps and solutions are the logicals way of sustaining the clan world for a few precious more years, I don't think it'll happen. There's too much pride floating around and this'll likely be torn apart anyway. **** the clan world for destroying itself. **** the fact that I'm playing a 16 year old game and I miss the golden days.

I'll check back here in another couple years.

Will a monthly 2 hours F2P Cluster makes F2P interesting again?

PShSrEV.jpg
Clans fighting in a cluster

For the past couple of weeks(well, months tbh). The F2P Scene is pretty much having serious problem with the lack of activities.
We all here notice that most of PvP Clans in CD mainly do P2P PK on a weekly or some even on a daily basis and while the F2P scene, they'll fight in the Clan Wars Arena and not in the wilderness anymore and thus because of this, the F2P wilderness activity have dropped drastically until majority of clans stop raiding there.

So I think I may have a silly proposal to clans that might interest them.

Do you guys think maybe you all should start an F2P monthly cluster fights?

I believe maybe through cluster fight clans can finally put the F2P crash wars between one another on a deep slumber of coma for along period of time.

I mean, think of this like the movie The Purge. You get your opportunity to muster most of your members to apply for their job leaves for this day to spend their time with your clan. Imagine the activity peak from each of your clan members coming to this monthly cluster event and imagine the brawl that everyone will face during this time of the month

Also, the duration of the cluster uou guys can set like at least an hour or two so it would be fair and easier for alot of clans to agree on to participate with the fight. 2 hours should be ideal for everyone at least in m opinion.

So thoughts on this random idea?

Maybe CDUNC can give feedback for this idea?
